Claire Webber runs a regular Pilates class at Worton Village Hall, every Monday at 1.30, suitable for all abilities, £6 Per session. Tel 07909987811
This is held every year, usually about the last Saturday in August in the Village Hall. It was started, I believe, in 1974 by a few local keen gardeners and has been held nearly every year since.
The show is arranged by a committee of the Gardening Club who meet on several occasions through the year. The schedule is broken down into various classes, vegetables, fruit, home produce, flowers, a men’s class and a photography section. Certificates are given for all classes. Results are pulled together so that shields or cup are awarded to class and overall winners. Recently we have worked with Five Lanes School on a poster competition which certainly brightens up the hall on show day and have now developed this to restart a children’s section too.
When complete, the hall looks very colourful and inviting. Schedules are available from about June each year, from committee members or from the Rose and Crown. If anyone wants to help with the organisation and join the committee, please get in touch.

The Town Band is very very keen to enrol musicians from Worton – we are quite sure there are a few of you who either currently play an instrument at school or in the forces, or who rediscover music later when the birds have flown the nest.
We are a symphonic wind band, but also a community band with diverse abilities and do not demand grades, only a good knowledge of the instrument and an ability to read and interpret music. It is essential to commit to rehearsals and engagements.
The band currently has over 35 members but has room for more - brass, woodwind - even an assistant to our two percussionists would be an asset as it is a very busy section.
